Welcoming Plumwood’s new residential caretakers: Molly Lasker and Al Webster

Plumwood Inc. are delighted to welcome Molly Lasker and Al Webster as the new caretakers of Val Plumwood’s state heritage listed residence on Plumwood Mountain.

These two will be responsible for daily maintenance, hosting residents, and supporting the Walbunja Rangers and Batemans Bay Local Aboriginal Land Council in caring for the wider conservation property.

Prior to moving to Plumwood Mountain / Walbunja Country, Molly and Alastair have been living and working on the lands of the Dharawal peoples on the South Coast of New South Wales.

Molly is a postgraduate student whose work sits within the messy interdisciplinary boundaries of history, anthropology, media ecology and literary theory, and is currently halfway through a PhD at the University of Tasmania where she is researching the specific material, historical, cultural, spiritual, and geological conditions that have led Tuvalu to become the "world's first digital nation".

Alastair is musician and a student of English literature. His musicianship moves between post-folk, Australian gothic, baroque pop, and ambient soundscapes.

Both are committed to sharing the legacy of Val Plumwood while onsite at Plumwood Mountain and within their respective creative and scholarly practice.
