Val Plumwood

Library

Have you ever wondered what was on Val Plumwood’s bedside reading pile? Turns out the stack might have been a couple thousand books high (2,271 to be exact).

Here at Plumwood Inc., we’ve been working away behind the scenes to clean and catalogue Val Plumwood’s impressive personal collection of weird, wacky, and wonderful publications held at the Plumwood Mountain site. After many years of hard work, we are now delighted to share the digital catalogue of her library collection with you.

You can now peruse the Val Plumwood library online via a user-friendly interface at https://www.libib.com/u/val-plumwood-library.

In the spirit of conserving Val’s ‘living museum’, we decided to digitally rather than physically organise these publications - leaving the shelves’ found archeological relationships and dis/order largely intact.

Should you wish to search the catalogue via certain categories — for example, author (‘Val Plumwood’, ‘Alexis Wright’), tags (i.e. genre ‘philosophy’ or theme ‘ecofeminism’), condition (‘excellent’, ‘damaged’), or other features (‘VP notations’, ‘ephemera’) — please download the detailed CSV file.

Thanks to Lauren Burrow for conceptualising this system, and the many people who contributed to the mammoth cataloguing efforts.
